Members of the Lauderdale County Special Education department attended the West Tennessee Special Education Conference in Memphis on September 15th and 16th. The conference included breakout sessions as well as keynotes. Kate Martin, former supervisor with the TN Department of Education, presented a powerful session on coaching for special education teachers and school administrators. Michael Bonner, nationality recognized educator, was the guest speaker on the opening day of the conference. Bonner kept the crowd entertained and engaged with his lively personality. Bonner continues to teach at the Ron Clark Academy in Atlanta while traveling the country promoting a positive mindset for students in the educational setting.
Several LCS SPED team members presented sessions during the conference. The LCS Transition School to Work team presented at the conference while educators April Oliver and Tori Terry presented a new tool they use to collect data in the classroom using QR codes and Google forms.
