Multiple community leadership members met on August 12, 2022 to review and discuss school safety operations as well as strengthen the partnerships between Lauderdale County Schools and each law enforcement department. This meeting was the third held by these community leaders in an effort to ensure a consistent vision and purpose existed among all entities. Meeting attendees included school and district administration, County Mayor Maurice Gaines, City of Ripley Mayor Craig Fitzhugh, Ripley and Halls Police Department leadership, and the Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Department, including Sheriff Elect Brian Kelley. All organizations plan to meet quarterly in our local schools to continue discussions surrounding school safety and ensure that effective and streamlined safety practices are in place.
