Staff, Families, and Lauderdale County Community Members,
We want to thank you all for your patience and concern during the rapidly evolving situation with Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19). As we continue to monitor the regional impact of this pandemic, schools will be following and adhering to guidelines communicated by state and federal authorities. In preparing for a potential outbreak of COVID-19 in our community, efforts are being made to slow the spread of disease with an emphasis on proactive measures. Cleaning crews have increased the frequency of disinfecting and sanitizing touch point surfaces and other common areas. Cleaning staff members are conducting more wipe downs and other spray methods to more quickly cover larger areas to help prevent the spread of illness.
Other proactive measures include common sense precautions like handwashing practices, expanded environmental cleaning, limiting physical touch, and staying home when sick. If employees, school visitors, or students are sick and exhibiting flu-like symptoms, they should seek medical attention and stay away from school campus. If a COVID-19 case appears in the community or at school, officials will work with the local health department and other relevant leadership to communicate the possible COVID-19 exposure and take immediate action to prevent the spread. Please remember that our collective efforts to prevent the spread of this virus is what will make a difference to the safety of our community.
As our schools finish this week and head into Spring break, school officials will continue to monitor the situation and communicate any further updates about COVID-19 under the news section on our website (www.LCED.net). The hyperlinks to any new announcements will be shared through Twitter (@LaudCoSChools), Facebook, and our mobile app platform.
Stay safe!
