Mr. Billings’s eighth graders took a few minutes out of their normal ELA lessons to learn about one of England’s biggest holidays of the year, Guy Fawkes Day and Bonfire Night. They were treated to a Zoom Meeting with two of Mr. Billings’s friends from Sussex, England. It was a great visit as during the class period, the actual event was taking place outside their home; since Sussex is six hours ahead of Ripley.
The students learned firsthand a unique and special holiday that dates back 415 years.
