Lauderdale County Schools’ Criminal Justice & Correction Services is one of many high school Career & Technical Education programs offered by Lauderdale County Schools.  This program of study allows our students to prepare for a ride range of careers in law enforcement, crime scene analysis, corrections, public safety, and criminal justice. Students come into the program with little or no knowledge of law and they advance from Criminal Justice I through Criminal Justice III. Course content emphasizes procedures and laws governing the application of justice in the United States, from constitutional rights to crisis scenario management to the elements of criminal investigations. Upon completion, students will be equipped with strong knowledge and skill preparation for postsecondary or career opportunities in many law and justice-related fields.

Our Criminal Justice III is a state-wide dual credit (SDC) class. Dual credit classes are college level courses taught at the high school level by trained high school teachers. Students who meet or exceed the exam cut score receive college credit that can be applied to any Tennessee public postsecondary institution and some private institutions.  We are proud to announce that on December 11, 2020, three RHS students obtained college credit by passing the State-wide Dual Credit Exam. These students are Mira G. (11th grade), Jeffrey W. (11th grade), and Ethan K. (12 grade). These students have earned three college credits for this course to be used at any public TN postsecondary institution.

Mr. Gary Fain is one of the instructors and he has been at Ripley High for the past 24 years.  Mr. Fain has a background in Law Enforcement and Juvenile Court.  Mr. Bursey is the instructor at Halls High and has a background in corrections and spent time in children and family services before his employment with Lauderdale County Schools. He is in his third year with the school system.

We look for great things in the future for the students in this program as we aim to build leaders of tomorrow through hard work and dedication.
