COVID Protocols Reminder

Reduced Student Capacity/Hybrid Schedules Not Currently Allowed in TN

Public schools in TN are required to be open and operating on a regular schedule.  School districts have not been given the flexibility to change operating schedules as was the case last school year.  Only the Governor of TN can issue that flexibility according to current state law.

Remote Learning Not Currently Allowed by State of TN

Per guidance provided by the State of Tennessee, full-time remote learning will not be allowed as an option for the 2021-2022 school year. Full-time remote learning will only be allowed upon the order of the Governor. However, remote learning may be utilized as a continuous learning option due to COVID-related student quarantine and/or exposure to COVID-19.

At this time, face coverings are HIGHLY RECOMMENDED for in-person learning. Although masks are optional at this point in time, the wearing of masks is highly recommended for all employees and students. More guidance may be released in the future as it relates to local infection rates and mandates for face coverings.

Protocols for quarantine and isolation remain in place by the CDC and TN Dept. of Health. Pursuant with current CDC/TDH protocols, students and employees who are identified as close contacts will be subject to quarantine. Close contacts are those within a 3 foot radius for more than 15 minutes of an individual with a positive case. Guidance is provided below regarding vaccinated/unvaccinated expectations.

  • Individuals with a prior case of COVID-19 are not required to quarantine if they meet all the following criteria:
    • Had COVID-19 illness within the previous 3 months, have recovered, and remain without COVID-19 symptoms.
  • Vaccinated Individuals are not required to quarantine or be tested if:
    • they are fully vaccinated (2 weeks beyond receipt of the second dose in a 2-dose series), or 2 weeks beyond receipt of one dose in a single dose vaccine and have remained asymptomatic since the exposure to COVID-19.
