A 2002 graduate of Halls High School, Shaina Hull continued her education at King University in east TN. She graduated with honors from King, earning her bachelor’s degree in Information Science with a double concentration in Network Management and Cybersecurity.
Shaina is currently an IT Software Development Specialist for Sedgwick Corporate Headquarters in Memphis. When asked what she enjoys most about her career, Shaina said she enjoys the fast-paced work environment and being able to help others.

Mrs. Ivy’s 6th grade math class did a Game Maker Project for their final exam. Students created their own board games. On the last day they played their games!! They all did a great job.

STEM students had their last LEGO build day of the year. Students made bridges, houses, towers and aircraft and some built kits. Good building by all!
STEM students learned about airports and airport security this week. Yesterday they began to build Table Top Airports. We can’t wait to see how they turn out!

Katrina Korszoloski graduated from Halls High School in 1997. She has earned two bachelor’s degrees from the University of Memphis (Biology) and the University of Tennessee Health Science Center (Cytotechnology). She has also earned her Associate of Applied Science in Nursing from Dyersburg State Community College and a Master of Science in Nursing (Family Nurse Practitioner) from East Tennessee State University.
Katrina is currently a Family Nurse Practitioner. When asked what her favorite part of her career is, Katrina said that she enjoys caring for those in need, improving quality of health through the promotion of healthy lifestyles, and building a community support system.

On Thursday, May 11th, the class of 2027 made a trip to DSCC’s On Track for College event. The program is designed to encourage middle school students to explore careers and higher education. 8th graders attended sessions hosted by DSCC faculty & staff. Sessions focused on various career programs offered, financial aid, and student life.

This week STEM students learned about the events of September 11, 2001 as part of the architecture unit. They also learned about the Global War on Terrorism (GWOT) and military careers such as IT tech, transportation, health care, culinary arts and construction.
