On August 24, 1920, Tennessee became the Perfect 36. That is, it became the final state needed to ratify the 19th Amendment which gave women the right to vote in America. The story of how Tennessee became the Perfect 36 was brought to life in Ms. Pipkin's library classes using the traveling history museum trunk.
Using primary sources, students analyzed both sides of the fight. They took on the persona of pro and anti forces that were represented in Nashville during that long hot summer of 1920. They role played the debates and wore buttons and roses that signified their political affiliation on the issue.
Lauderdale County students benefit every day from the leadership and vision of our school board. Jan. 27-31 is School Board Appreciation Week in Tennessee so take time to thank these dedicated school leaders. #LauderdaleLeads @TSBA_News

Had a great visit this week with TDOE Chief of Whole Child, Katie Houghtlin. Shared the many student supports in place in Lauderdale County and then spent time in a teacher PLC on restorative practices. Of course, the highlight was the time spent with our students. #LauderdaleLeads
This week 7th grade Wit and Wisdom classes (Mrs Dixon, Mrs Sherman, and Coach Wiggin) created and performed Tableaus based on Escape from Mazanar which details the memoirs of a schoolgirl raised in an internment camp for Japanese Americans. Tableaus are an innovative illustration where students create a frozen, silent picture to illustrate the scene and reactions of characters. In this lesson, students analyzed the impact of the plot and settings on characters demonstrating their understanding through the creation, planning, and performance of tableaus of different sections of the book. Every student can show greatness and interact with complex texts creating innovative and in-depth projects.
The basketball team will host Northview tonight, the girls game will start at 6.
Also, homecoming court will be announced at 5:45, and the 8th graders will be recognized between the girls and boys varsity games (approximately 7:15).
Hope to see everyone out tonight.
Permission slips are being sent home for the ROAR trip January 27th to Union City's Discovery Park. Over 400 students who did not receive an office referral of any kind for the 2nd 9 weeks have been invited. Congratulations to those students for ROARing during the 2nd 9 weeks!
