Socratic Discussion with Ms. Sherman
The Socratic seminar is a formal discussion, based on a text, in which the leader asks open-ended questions. Within the context of the discussion, students listen closely to the comments of others, thinking critically for themselves, and articulate their own thoughts and their responses to the thoughts of others.
Mrs. Halliburton and Mrs. Smith's homeroom students created American flags to celebrate Freedom Friday for RMS Homecoming and to honor Patriot’s Day on September 11. The classes plan to march with them in the Veteran’s Parade in November!

Hear Ye! Hear Ye!
During Mr. WIggin’s class today, students analyzed the plot of the Knight’s Tale from the Canterbury Tales using literary dominoes to organize the plot using summaries. Students are reading the Canterbury Tales as a part of the new Wit and Wisdom curriculum. Students are interacting with rigorous texts and participating in collaborative learning with high quality activities.
Ms. Milam’s Intervention class is working on a Rank-Order lesson where students learned about the Berlin Wall and had to formulate an escape plan and then rank theirs up next to 9 other options.
Sixth graders practice the problem solving process while 7th and 8th graders are learning Javascript. Computer Science is happening at Ripley MIddle School.

RMS SCA will be hosting a "Holiday Homecoming" dance on Friday, September 6th from 6:30-8:30PM. Students must have their 2019-2020 student ID in order to attend.
Advance admission to the dance will be sold September 3rd-5th during lunch for $5.
Admission on September 6th may be purchased at the door only for $10.
Concessions will be sold during the dance. Come and join us for the first dance of the school year!
RMS student will participate in Football Homecoming activities next week, September 3-6.
Dress Up Days: Students will be able to wear holiday themed tops according to the dress code expectations below. Please note that the only day non-dress code bottoms can be worn is on Thursday.
Spirit Links for Project Impact: Our homecoming service project for this year is “Project Impact”. Project Impact is an initiative to provide for students and adults who are displaced in our area. To help with this initiative, RMS Student Council will sell spirit links each morning during homeroom time (7:30-7:42) for $0.25. Links will be placed in homeroom teacher mailboxes. Homeroom teachers will display the links in their classrooms.
Pep Rally/Spirit Games: Our school-wide pep rally will be held on Thursday afternoon, September 5th. During the pep rally, there will be 4-5 “field games” that students will be able to sign up and play to earn points for their grade. Administrators will coordinate the game signups during each lunch period next week.
